Bike Scheme PDF Print E-mail
Christmas Bikes

On a recent visit to Uganda we discovered that some students were having to walk more than 10km each way to attend Crossroads School. It was suggested that a scheme be set up to loan bicycles to such students so they can put more energy into studying. A bike costs around £50. We asked people to sacrifice Christmas presents in support of the scheme.  A highly positive response from our supporters ensured that sufficient funds have been raised to launch the scheme which is now in the process of being initiated.

Rogers' Joy! PDF Print E-mail

Rogers hard at workSpecial Needs Project Rogers is the latest recipient of a new wheelchair.   The sturdy wheelchair was manufactured locally and is made to cope with the difficult terrain.   Placing orders locally also provides additional work for local craftsmen.

The acquisition of a wheelchair is a  life-changing event for the youngsters and families involved.

Rogers is pictured (left) hard at work breaking rock into smaller pieces for ballast - highly demanding work for someone in good physical health.

Rogers' new wheelchair

Soon after the above picture was taken, Rogers was able to take delivery of his own new wheelchair.

He is also pictured holding a home educational pack provided by GC which will encourage his learning at home.

Rogers delight is evident and the wheelchair will promote a greater sense of independence and dignity.

Special thanks to all who have fund

raised to support this important project.
